Love your reviews. Your sense of humor is great. I hope you get a chance to take a look at the 2018 CX-3. I realize this is a refresh model with not a whole lot changed, but claims that road noise and attempts to conceal engine noise more really has me curious how much better it is than the 2016 model you reviewed. Can we expect a similar refinement that the 2017 CX5 received over the 2016 model?

I accidentally saw a video from this channel and I started watching more. I like the you perspective on cars and how you translate it to us. After a few videos, I was wondering if you could also tell us more about reliability of a car. I know when you are looking at underneath of a car, sometimes you provide some information indicating reliability (sort of predicted reliability based on materials). Is it possible for you to also share some reliability information based on what you know about the history of the car model, including current design, and give your opinion? You may not have that much information to really talk about it or that might be something you don't want to get into. Whether you like the idea or not, I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask you.

Do you think you could do a full review on the 2018 VW Golf R? If possible, I would like your opinion on the new 7 speed DSG and the manual. The DSG should be the same as what was in the 2018 a5 that you reviewed. I have heard that the manual was more of an afterthought for this vehicle. I love rowing my own gears, but if isn't good, I would rather get the DSG. It is hard to test drive these cars as some dealerships around here don't want tire kickers. Hopefully with your influence, you can do what most of us can't.

Rust seems to be a big problem in some parts of the US. It´s the same here in Sweden, especially with Japanese and Korean cars. Here, if we buy a new car with the intention of keeping it for more than five years or so we have additional rustproofing done before the car sees its first salty winter. Is this not common in the US?

Vor year
s45492a
s45492a

I see. I guess we have a tradition of keeping our cars for longer periods of time. With the present inbuilt obsolescence I´m not so sure we have that option anymore. I´m just old fashioned I guess. I just bought a new daily driver and I had to search really hard to avoid the touchscreen thing. Anyway, I like your reviews very much, the no bs approach is refreshing and the quality is great.

Vor year
savagegeese
savagegeese

+s45492a Its not very common here because it is sold as a dealer add on that is absurdly expensive and often horribly done. Also different regions of US have different salt formulations. Unfortunately knowing which rust proofing works and doesnt is a crap shoot. You basically have to rubberize undercoat and car here and most cant afford that or dont know any better.

Hi Savageese, Great channel. Got a question about steering wheels on cars these days don't face the driver straight on. Is this a common thing? My 1990 Honda Accord did not have this problem (no air bag). My 2001 impreza does. It's off center and facing toward my left side, so when both hands are on the wheel, right arm bend more. Then I realized, 2012 Prius has a similar tilt as well. Then I also found out 1991 Toyota MR2 with air bag also tilt out. so I concluded that cars with airbags have this "problem". Now I read about BMW 2 series review about the seat not facing straight on (perpendicular to the driver facing direction) because of airbag (car and driver review). I rented an America car and it has no such tilt. Now I wonder, is this a true thing through out the international autos that they purposely tilt the steering to face left just to pass some US safety regulations? I haven't tested out that many cars, but you guys seems to have driven a lot of cars. Is this something that too subtle to notice while driving or no one really cares about a small tilt? Or I just so happen to have experienced all these "off" versions of the cars? I also asked this same question to a Subaru dealer maintenance department and the guy just came back to me and said this is for your safety. However, to me, this tilt is just uncomfortable and doesn't make sense since I drive with both hands all the time. Can you do a video on this?

My wife and I are looking to buy a second car - something fun (we have an RX350 - great car - but not fun). There are heaps of great options, some of which include (Australian pricing, c.30kms / 3 years old or less): - $20k BRZ or RS265 - $40k Abarth 124 or STI - $60k RC350 or Mustang To my mind, taking value into account, it is hard to go past the RS265. What do you think? If you ever get the opportunity, a review that addresses the "fun car" topic would be great!!

There is another dimension I'd like you to apply to the Gran Turismo review and the ZL1 comparison. I am interested in a female impression, let us see how well you can recruit an interesting feminine subject to judge the comparative desirability of the Maserati vs. other cars, or as a suitable conveyance for feminine sensibility.

Vor year
RootsandTendrils
RootsandTendrils

Mark, I want to suggest a review project, something you can deeply explore with relish, and in so doing reveal to us all the dimensions of this most beautiful and thoroughly appealing GT car. And that is the essential question, is it thoroughly appealing? Is this the ultimate mature drivers car? Optimal aesthetics, luxury, practicality, visual and kinetic excitement; Yes the Maserati Gran Turismo. I want to see a full technical and human impression diseection of this extraordinary car including how thoroughly Maserati allows for the aesthetic customization of this voluptuous, enchanting, and elegant Italian ship. To me the conception of the car is its first attribute: low slung, a true front-mid-engine, comfortable for four, precise directionally, and singing like a rock star. Now an additional challenge, a comparison test, your personal choice, expense aside, which would you own the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 automatic or the Maserati Gran Turismo. Refined American Muscle or Electric Italian Beauty.

Thank you for all of your reviews! I appreciate the advice for advancing driving skills like karting etc., I had a MKV gti which was tuned and subsequently some mediocre cars since then out of necessity and I want another "hot hatch" before I die. The car I am very interested in is the Fiesta ST but.... they are going to a 1.5L 3 cyl for 2018! Yes I know that power to weight ratio is favorable for this package yet there is something disturbing about this and it makes me kind of ill. I would like to camp on a 2017 before this happens. I do not, however, see any reviews of the Fiesta ST from you but get a lot of propaganda from others. The drivers love it and the balance it offers yet I know that many hate the Recaros. Such a quirky car! I would like your honest opinion! I almost went to a Fiat Abarth because of your video but I cannot live with the tiny gas tank and the incredible heat the turbo generates. Even if Jay Leno bought two of them.

Awesome reviews and production quality. I'm looking for your opinion. I have a 2014 VW Passat diesel. I drive 30,000+ miles a year, 95% highway, in snowy winters, and flat landscapes. Emission scandal aside, the diesel has had bullet-proof dependability, and awesome fuel economy. Given that VW has screwed the future of diesels, I'm looking at alternatives in the family sedan segment, $30K-$40K . Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't see how hybrids will be robust enough to handle the miles I drive. So I've been looking at options like the Optima with the turbo 4, and the Accord with the V6. I know I won't get the fuel economy with these options. Any thoughts on hybrid vs. turbo 4 vs. V6 for the kind of driving I do (from a durability perspective)?

+hdfxdci06 I did a UOA on the Mazda moly oil at 15k miles and it was totally fine, however I was more concerned with sludge and the efficiency of the filter at that point along with carbon deposits. I dont think I would run longer than 12-15k miles on that oil.
